In this unit, your employee will gain an understanding of how infection can be spread, understand the term ‘chain of infection’ and the need to recognise Healthcare Associated Infections.
Unit 2: Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in healthcare settings
This unit will help develop your employee’s knowledge of the importance of personal hygiene in the prevention and control of infection, the importance of effective hand washing, and how Personal Protective Equipment can be used to minimise the spread of infection.
Unit 3: Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in healthcare settings
Within this unit, your employee will recognise the importance of maintaining a clean environment and will understand roles and responsibilities in relation to cleaning, decontamination, and waste management. Learners will also develop an in-depth knowledge of the decontamination process, sterilisation process and the principles of effective waste management.
Unit 4: Principles of infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting
Within this unit, your employee will gain an understanding of the purpose of infection control as well as how regulations inform policy and practice relating to infection control. Learners will also learn about the role of risk assessments in relation to infection control and the principles of infection control procedures.
